Didn’t we address the krptonite is secret and it is fake thing already? We tried to hide it but it keeps popping up. Clark and a friend of his got exposed to a rock and I’m pretty sure it was homogenously kryptonite throughout this entire episode. Now it starts affecting both of them but the friend becomes like Superman for a while and gets some of his strengths.
Eventually some crooks catch on and try to kill them, Lois and Jimmy who snooped to get a scoop and almost died. Luckily Superman guided them out safely and the crooks are with Inspector Henderson.
